Hypnotic Donuts, an award-winning donut shop famous for its exotic donut concoctions, has announced that they will officially open on January 29, 2012 at 9am. The store will operate seven days a week at 9007 Garland Road, Dallas, TX 75218.
Hypnotic Donuts, formerly operating out of The Pizza Guy Restaurant, on weekend mornings only, has been recognized locally for its unique donut creations including its namesake the Hypnotic – a chocolate cake donut covered with Hypnotic frosting (chocolate, caramel and peanut butter), topped with pretzels and peanut butter Cap’n Crunch, and drizzled with caramel and chocolate. Other donuts include the Mexico with a jalapeño and Tabasco jolt and Jenni’s Evil Elvis just to name a few.
With their new location and full kitchen Hypnotic Donuts will greatly expand their menu to include chicken biscuits, biscuits and jelly from local purveyor JJ&B as well as biscuits and gravy. Also, for the serious athlete that trains at White Rock Lake, Hypnotic Donuts will carry healthy options: oatmeal that is made to order with choice of toppings, Greek yogurt and fresh fruit parfaits, protein drinks/ bars and various energy/recovery drinks.
“We chose to open our first store in east Dallas close to White Rock Lake because of the friendly neighborhood vibe and the enthusiasm residents have for local business,” said James St. Peter, owner and creative mastermind behind Hypnotic Donuts. “Our store is conveniently located on Garland Road, just south of Casa Linda Plaza and north of the Dallas Arboretum. It’s a convenient stop for those on their way to work looking for a morning pick me up or athletes enjoying White Rock Lake looking to reward themselves with a well-deserved treat.”
Hyppies, as patrons are known as, will enjoy a casual in-store experience with seating at the donut and coffee bar, or lounging on the sofa and some old school chairs. Outside will be cheap plastic chairs that face the street. Hypnotic calls this seating style “Goodfellas Row” as it is inspired by the movie of the same name. Standard chairs and tables will be placed throughout the space as well. In following St. Peter’s Hyppie mantra, Hypnotic Donuts furnished the store using reclaimed furniture and décor from local vintage, resale, thrift and charity stores. To further utilize local talent, local artist Kristen Johnson painted a mural of well-known hippies throughout history giving customers the joy of sharing a Hypnotic experience with their favorite hippies. Also, coffee will be supplied by locally owned and award winning Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters and will be brewed by the French press method.
“As a Dallas-based business, we want to make the community part of our business plan. By carrying Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters coffee, JJ&B’s jams, partnering with local artist and decorating with recycled furnishings, we are on the right track to keep business in Dallas and continue to attract locally-owned businesses to the neighborhood,” noted St. Peter.
Hypnotic Donuts will operate with the following hours:
